THE PURPOSE
01
The Need
Kids need a safe, healthy place to be after school between the hours of 2:45 (when school gets out) and 6:00PM (when their parents get off work to pick them up). All parents want a safe, healthy, and stimulating environment for their children during this time period.
02
The solution
For more than 150 years, Boys & Girls Clubs of America have enabled young people most in need to achieve great futures as productive, caring, responsible citizens. Today, 4,300 clubs serve nearly 4 million young people through Club membership and community outreach.
03
OUR LOCAL CLUB
In 2021, the Boys & Girls Club at Saugatuck-Douglas opened its doors! Since then, we have served over 300 students, many of whom are from working families, and 30% of whom qualify for free and reduced lunch. The Boys & Girls Club provides after school and summer programs through the cooperation of local organizations, the Mt. Baldhead Challenge, and generous donors.

What's next
Our club has become an undisputed success loved by Douglas Elementary School kids, their parents, teachers, and faculty. We now plan to grow the club to serve middle and high school students throughout Saugatuck Public Schools. We plan to build powerful services like mentoring, tutoring, team sports, EPIC, and Youth of The Year. All programs will be led by trained, local staff that take the time to get to know and help grow all students.
